This policy covers the Local Poker app for iPhone and iPad and this website, localpoker.app. Both are made by Aleksandr Chichkanov, an independent developer.
What the app collects
Nothing. Local Poker has no servers, no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party code that tracks you. The developer never receives your name, photo, games, location or anything else.
What stays on your device
- Your name and photo, which you choose so friends can see who's at the table. The photo is optional.
- Ratings and stats for the people you've played with.
- Settings and a saved game, so the host can resume an unfinished game.
Ratings are also copied to your own iCloud account (iCloud key-value storage), so they survive a new phone. Apple stores this data under your Apple Account. The developer can't see it.
What's shared with other players
When you play, your device talks directly to the other devices at your table over the local network, without the internet. It shares only what the game needs: your name, your photo, your player color, your actions and the emoji you send. Your hole cards go only to you. Only the host's device knows the deck.
Permissions the app asks for
- Local Network, to find and connect to tables near you. Without it, nobody can join.
- Bluetooth, for optional nearby table alerts. When you turn them on, your phone listens for tables opened by hosts you've played with and shows a local notification. This happens on your device. Nothing is sent to the developer.
- Notifications, only if you turn on nearby table alerts.
- Camera, only if you take a photo for your seat. Picking a photo from your library uses Apple's photo picker, which gives the app only the photo you choose.
